Quiet Grace

He breathes in quiet, unseen air,
A life unfolds, though none aware.
No trumpet sounds, no banners fly,
He simply is, beneath the sky.

His paws don’t flail for outward show,
But work rhythm but he can know.
He moves along, a steady pace,
Without a plea, a simple grace.

He seeks no crown, no gilded name,
Ignites no hungry, public flame.
His sole desire, the wind’s soft kiss,
The simple, unadorned abyss.

He needs no ink, no storied page,
To leave his mark upon life’s stage.
For Earth remembers, deep and true,
The quiet soul that simply drew
Its breath in silence, vast and deep,
While the dear world was fast asleep.

I live in a gift economy, so I give all of my writing freely to you. I depend on your good will and generosity so that my family and I may live, and so that I may continue to write, share insights, and build community. If you were inspired by this, I invite you to also give, to participate in "the Gift". It only takes a moment. I express my deepest gratitude to you for your Gift!
