The traditional goal of proselytism is to convert people to an institution and its ways, but there is a deeper conversion that often gets overlooked and overshadowed that has nothing to do with institutions.

Margaret Barker on the Radical Original Understanding of Resurrection
The Methodist biblical scholar, Margaret Barker, wrote a book published in 1996 titled The Risen Lord in which she proposed that "the original understanding of resurrection may in fact be Jesus’ mystical experience at his baptism, when he was raised up and transformed into the divine Son."
The Mysticism of Joseph Smith
I see mysticism in Joseph Smith and his work at nearly every turn. Joseph united his mind and consciousness in God to such a great degree that he spoke with the voice of Christ. One only does that if one is genuinely in mystical union with God, or delusional, or a con man (a fake). I perceive Joseph was the first, and I'll share a few reasons why.
